I'm so proud of my beautiful daughter Lael. And though I am very proud of Lael for her success at Marian University and Riley Hospital, there is so much more to be proud of. She is so beautiful inside and out and really has it together, especially for a 22 year old. Lael loves God, and everything else flows from there.
FYI. Lael's middle name is not Bell. Ha! She likes to call herself that??? When Lael was little people would mispronounce her name and say, Leal. I taught Lael to say it rhymes with Bell. It stuck!! Lael used to say to people, "Hi! I'm from China. My name is Lael. It rhymes with Bell." Maybe she still does say it. : - )
And her real name is Lael Bian Grace. Bian is pronounced Bien bc it's her Chinese name she came with.

Boone: "It's embarrassing."
Me: "Come on. Let me read it."

I don't know anything about the Super Bowl and I don't want to know anything about the Super Bowl. I do know somebody won and it was a big deal. So, when the kids had their little party I stayed up stairs and watched PBS Masterpiece Victoria and THE SIX WIVES OF HENRY VIII. That Henry was one evil dude!!!
Meanwhile, Boone is downstairs cleaning house. This is the 2nd year in the row he won! $20! So, before school this morning he decided to by a bag of gum and candy.

February is national heart month and as Valentine’s Day approaches, this month is perfect time to consider matters of the actual heart.
Preventing
heart disease
Although
you lack the power to change some risk factors for heart disease, there
are several key prevention steps you can take to reduce your risk,
according to the Mayo Clinic. They include:
- Don’t smoke or use tobacco.
- Exercise for about 30 minutes on most days of the week.
- Eat a heart-healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Get enough quality sleep.
- Manage stress.
- Get regular health screenings.
OK, Lyric and my nieces, Gabrielle and Darby, didn't have heart disease, but Lyric and Darby did have open heart surgery. Lyric and Darby had Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). When my sister adopted Gabrielle, China said Gabrielle would need heart surgery, but her heart ended up healing itself.

In most children, the cause isn't known. It's a very common type of heart defect though. Some children can have other heart defects along with VSD, but she didn't.
VSDs are classified as: small (diameter less than or equal to 3 mm), medium (3 to 6 mm) and large (greater than 6 mm). Lyric's was almost 8 mm.
