Food, fun and duck calls
Boone is a very imaginative little boy. He absolutely loves the toy guns and holster he got for Christmas. I don't think it is because he is so into guns. Instead, I think he loves imagining he is a cowboy.
For CHRISTmas Stafan asked for a genuine Duck Commander Duck Call. It surprised me, because Stafan is into sports more than anything. But he wanted a duck call, and he wanted it bad. Like Boone and his six-shooters, Stafan hasn't put down his duck call since Christmas morning. So why was I willing to buy my son a duck call that I knew would get blown and blown until it drove me crazy?
Well, I can't believe I'm saying this, but if you want GREAT, WONDERFUL role models for your sons, have them watch Duck Dynasty! As a matter of fact, if you want GREAT, WONDERFUL role models for your daughters, have them watch the Duck Dynasty women. It took some getting used to, but I even like Duck Dynasty. Not only does the Robertson family share my faith and values, they are hilariously funny. And I even make Ms. Kaye's biscuits. : - )
In case you're scratching your head at this point because you're not familiar with the Robertson family and their wildly popular show, "Duck Dynasty," it all started with Phil Robertson. Phil was a top college quarterback and gave up a chance to become a professional football star because he wasn't willing to give up hunting during duck season. After years of some pretty wild living, Phil became a devout Christian and has been outspoken about his faith ever since. Along the way, he also invented the world's most popular duck call and started the mult-million dollar company, Duck Commander. His son Willie now runs the company. In March 2012, the Roberston family became the stars of the hit reality show, Duck Dynasty.
Hollywood just can't understand why America loves Phil and his family. The funny and ironic part is that I'm sure most of the people in Hollywood would love to get rid of them, but the show and, as far as I can tell, everything else the Robertson family touches turns to gold. This love-hate relationship was full on display when the A&E network (the network Duck Dynasty appears on) suspended Phil "indefinitely" for speaking openly in an interview about his view that homosexuality is a sin. About a week and thousands upon thousands of letters and emails in support of Phil later, A&E lifted the suspension. While money may have motivated the powers that be at A&E to lift the suspension, I suspect they still can't wrap their head around why so many Americans love the God-fearin', free speakin' and politically incorrect Phil Robertson and his family. Here is a clue A&E, we love Phil because he is God fearin', free speakin' and politically incorrect.
And as I write this I heard a duck upstairs.
